Many of my students, clients, and dear ones have been sharing concerns about a range of issues, especially social and political. The weight of external events can feel overwhelming, stirring up emotions, thoughts, and energetic imbalances within. This stirring can be due to ‘what if’ scenarios; sometimes around the situation within the dynamics of family or friend, and often within the context of the broader considerations which may include individual rights, environmental concerns, political approaches, and more.

My invitation to invite calm and balance, from which we can more consciously determine right action, may seem simple and yet it is not easy. It is to turn inward. Instead of resisting or reacting, what happens when you pause and explore how these external forces are impacting you on the inside - physically, mentally, emotionally?

When we allow ourselves to fully sit with discomfort—the sensations, emotions, and thoughts that arise—we can create space for deeper presence. Or, at least allow for a response that is with more consideration and less reaction. Rather than bypassing what is, we can meet the moment exactly as it is. And from that place of acceptance, we may find ourselves naturally moving toward a state of restoration, balance, and realignment. From there, we can discern what action, if any is appropriate.

This is not about pretending the situation(s) were different, or throwing up our hands and bemoaning there is ‘nothing I can do.’ It is about consideration of observing your internal response, without it needing to change. From there, with heightened clarity, we can determine if we are invited to re-allocate our choices and actions.

This process is not easy in that we may ‘see’ things differently which requires setting aside a part of the control. The actual process is, however, not complicated. A few minutes of intentional stillness can shift everything.

So, the next time you feel in turmoil, riled or experiencing the myraid of ways that have the thinking you moving in never ending circles, often downward, given yourself 5 minutes to pause.

Find a quiet space and focus on your breath. Notice where it moves, where it doesn’t, without needing to change or fix anything. Simply observe.Tune into your body—if a particular thought arises, notice where you feel it physically. If a sensation appears, allow yourself to be with it fully. Then, Let it be—no analysis, no resistance, just presence.

This kind of somatic practice helps guide us toward a state of equilibrium. Instead of being consumed by external chaos, we reconnect, bit by bit, with our internal steadiness—one that is always available, always present.

If you’d like deeper support in cultivating this inner state of ease, reach out for a one-on-one exploration or, join me this Sunday for an experience designed to rebalance, restore, and harmonize. It’s an opportunity to unplug from the external noise and return home to yourself. There are six spots open: click here to reserve yours.
